Results Statement: By using this 12-week lesson plan, all dance sessions should progress the same and in the correct amount of time before the recital.
Week 1
5:00-5:05 p.m.: Introductions
- Coach introduces herself to students. She also learns each of their names.
5:05-5:20 p.m.: Warm up (Play ‘Shake It Off’)
- Jumping jacks – 8 jumping jacks facing the front, turn and do 8 jumping jacks facing the side mirror, turn and do 8 jumping jacks facing the back, turn and do 8 jumping jacks facing the parents. Repeat 2 times for a total of 3 times.
- Big arm circles
- Look up, look down, look to your parents, look to the mirror, roll head both directions
- Sit on bottom in a straddle and reach to right foot and hold
- Switch to left foot and hold
- Reach to middle and hold
- Legs in a pike, reach and hold
- Shake toes left and right
- Circle feet
- Sit in butterfly, learn forward nose to toes, and hold
5:20-5:40 p.m.: Learn hip hop skills
- 2 step
- The box step
- Chest pop
- The criss cross
5:40-5:42 p.m.: Listen to Recital Music
5:42-5:45 p.m.: Play freeze dance
Weekly Reminders/Announcements: Introduce yourself to parents. Let them know you’re excited to be teaching their children. Ensure all parents know the date for the recital. Review sizes ordered for costumes.
