This lesson plan focuses on tabletops/bridges, forward rolls, backward rolls, straddle rolls and cartwheels.

Results Statement: By completing this lesson plan, you will effectively accomplish a 30-minute virtual session. All families should be notified in advance what materials they may need (a soft surface, a towel, etc.)

Begin the class by asking the children: “What is your favorite food?”

Make sure you know the names of each child. People can be renamed in Zoom if that helps you to remember.

Teach them how to do video and mute/unmute.

 

Warm Up:

50 jumping jacks

High knees

Bottom kickers

Inch Worms

Side lunges right

Side lunges left

Squat and press

Swim forward

Swim backward

Cherry pickers

Blinkers

Neck

Ankles

 

Tabletops/Bridges (need wall):

Bridge & hold up 5 seconds.

Bridge head taps x 6

Bridge leg lifts x 3

Rock n’ roll

Bridge chest to wall x 5

Bridge tick tocks with feet

Bridge jumps off toes

 

Forwards roll: 

*Tall as a tree, small as a mouse, look at your belly button, head on the ground and roll. (Over a cushion.) 

*Adv-level, sock ball &  go over an object.

Stand without using hands.

 

Backwards roll:

Demonstrate hand placement

Toes back to wall x 5

Backwards roll for those who can (bear to stand for those who can’t)

*Advanced use a sock

Back Pike roll

Back straddle roll

 

Straddle Rolls

Sit in straddle and lift up 7 times

Straddle roll (booty from the wall)

Straddle roll off a couch cushion

Straddle rolls

 

Cartwheel

Everyone demonstrate a lunge.

Everyone demonstrate tight arms. 

Which direction will our fingers face?

Lunge to hands down (hand-hand)

Over a towel

Over a stepstool

Lunge, cartwheel, lunge

 

Conditioning:

Inch Worm to 10 mountain climbers x 3

25 leg lifts

25 straight leg windshield wipers

Side plank x 30 sec each side

 

Flexibility:

Straddle each side & middle

Pike

Butterfly

Hip flexors (runners’ stretch)

Hamstrings

End the class with hands in to the camera counting 1-2-3 “Twisters!”
