This lesson plan focuses on tabletops/bridges, forward rolls, cartwheels, and roundoffs.

Results Statement: By completing this lesson plan, you will effectively accomplish a 30-minute virtual session. All families should be notified in advance what materials they may need (a soft surface, a towel, etc.)

Begin the class by asking the children: “What is your favorite food?”

Make sure you know the names of each child. People can be renamed in Zoom if that helps you to remember.

Teach them how to do video and mute/unmute.

 

Warm Up:

50 jumping jacks

High knees

Bottom kickers

Inch Worms

Side lunges right

Side lunges left

Squat and press

Swim forward

Swim backward

Cherry pickers

Blinkers

Neck

Ankles

 

Tabletops/Bridges (need wall):

Bridge & hold up 5 seconds.

Bridge head taps x 6

Bridge leg lifts x 3

Rock n’ roll

Bridge rocks x 5

Bridge tick tocks with feet

Bridge jumps off toes

 

Forward Rolls: 

*Hold shoe over head

*Socks/shoe between knees

Rock and roll to stand up x 5

Candlestick from standing

Forward roll broken down shoe between knees then without shoe

 

Cartwheel:

-Hands on towel & jump over x 10

*Sock on good foot (one you kick a ball with)

-Good foot in front, point hands to pinky toe, cartwheel or jump over towel

-If it’s easy, have them try a one-handed

 

Roundoffs: 

Hand placement

Start in cartwheel, to handstand, and down

Introduce power hurdles

 

Conditioning:

Sit ups x 10

Push ups x 10

Hold push up for 10 seconds

Squats x 10

Frog Jumps x 10

 

Flexibility:

Straddle each side & middle

Pike

Butterfly

Hip flexors (runners’ stretch)

Hamstrings

 

End the class with hands in to the camera counting 1-2-3 “Twisters!”
