This lesson plan focuses on bridge/tabletop, candlestick, handstands, cartwheels and backwards rolls.

Results Statement: By completing this lesson plan, you will effectively accomplish a 30-minute virtual session. All families should be notified in advance what materials they may need (a soft surface, a towel, etc.)

Begin the class by asking the children: “What is your favorite animal?”

Make sure you know the names of each child. People can be renamed in Zoom if that helps you to remember.

Teach them how to do video and mute/unmute.

 

Warm Up:

50 jumping jacks

High knees

Bottom kickers

Kick in front

Kicks to the side

Inch Worms

Swim forward

Swim backward

Cherry pickers

Blinkers

Neck

Ankles

 

Tabletops/Bridges (need wall):

Bridge & hold up 5 seconds.

Bridge head taps x 6

Bridge leg lifts x 3

Rock n’ roll

 

Candlesticks:

Sit roll back candlestick x 5

Stand, back candlestick x 5

 

Cartwheels:

Hop side to side x 20

Good side

Bad side

One handed

 

Backwards roll:

Demonstrate hand placement

Toes back to wall x 5

Backwards roll for those who can (bear to stand for those who can’t)

 

Handstands:

Mountain shrugs

Mountain switch leg

Kick to handstand

Handstand rolls – if time and doing well

 

Conditioning:

Diamond jumps x 24

Flamingos x 10 each side

Squats x 15

Push up jacks x 20

 

Flexibility:

Straddle each side & middle

Pike

Butterfly

Hip flexors (runners’ stretch)

Hamstrings

Splits

End the class with hands in to the camera counting 1-2-3 “Twisters!”
