How to Shovel and Salt the Front Walkway
Results Statement: By completing this system, Twisters will maintain a clean and safe walkway when it snows or ices. This will reduce injury potential and liability.
- Put the wet floor sign out in front of the doors (on the inside of the building) and in front of Kids Camp entryway (if applicable).
- Inside the birthday storage room, there is a snow shovel right inside by the door.
- Shovel the entire walkway. Do not put the snow into the plant area, but place it at the end of the walkway or in the parking lot closest to the walkway.
- After the walkway is shoveled, fill the salt spreader with a few cups of salt. Ensure the fan on the inside can move and there are no chunks of salt. Walk up and down the walkway until the salt is spread evenly throughout. Use the handheld salt spreader to get any areas that the rolling salt spreader cannot get to. Empty the rolling salt spreader back into the bucket after each use.Â
- Check the walkway each hour during inclement weather to ensure there is traction and the walkway has not iced over again.
- Notify Melanie when the last bag of salt is opened so she can put it on her shopping list.
