This lesson plan focuses on backbend, handstand and backwards roll variations.

Results Statement: By completing this lesson plan, you will effectively accomplish a 30-minute virtual session. All families should be notified in advance what materials they may need (a soft surface, a towel, etc.)

Begin the class by asking the children: “What is your favorite food?”

Make sure you know the names of each child. People can be renamed in Zoom if that helps you to remember.

Teach them how to do video and mute/unmute.

 

Warm Up:

50 jumping jacks

Handstand lunge: 

  • Lunge, T, Handstand
  • Back to lunge, no steps

Handstand half-pirouette

Back Rolls: 

Backwards roll 3 hands or less

Back extension rolls v. step outs

Back extension ½ pirouette

Conditioning: 

Diamond jumps x 24

Plyo knee lunges (30 sec each side)

Side plyo knee jumps (30 sec each side)

Sumo squat jumps (30 sec)
