Week #1
- Red Light Green Light- Give athletes a hula hoop each as their (car), green lights means RUN, yellow light means WALK, red light means STOP, drop hula hoop and complete a balance/static activity in hula hoop, BUMPY ROAD means hop around the circle, REVERSE means go backward, CAR CRASH means fall on the floor, FLAT TIRE hop on one foot
Week #2
- Fun with Balls- Using the plastic colored balls, place them in a bin in the middle of the floor, and put corresponding colored hula hoops around the floor, ask the kids to sort the balls by grabbing one at a time and placing it in the correct color hula hoop. Also assign a specific action/locomotion to each ball color, so as the kids are placing them in the hula hoops, they must complete a task such as donkey kicks, stork stand, v sit, etc.
Week #3
- Tail tag- Everyone wears a tail (bandana) in the back of their shorts / trousers. Everyone runs around and collects as many tails as possible, and tucks them into their shorts, even if a child has no tails, they can still run and try to collect them. The child with the most tails is the winner!
Week #4
- Bunnies in the hole- Put a dots or hoops in a circle in the middle of the floor, have kids complete different actions/locomotions around the circle while playing music. When you pause the music kids shout “Bunnies in the hole” and instruct the kids to run to the a dot/hoop as fast as possible. Once on the dot/hoop then have them do an activity or static stand (see actions list)
