This lesson plan focuses on tabletops, candlesticks and handstands.
Results Statement: By completing this lesson plan, you will effectively accomplish a 30-minute virtual session. All families should be notified in advance what materials they may need (a soft surface, a towel, etc.)
Begin the class by asking the children: “What is your favorite thing to do at the beach?”
Make sure you know the names of each child. People can be renamed in Zoom if that helps you to remember.
Teach them how to do video and mute/unmute.
Warm Up:
Run in Place for 30 seconds
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Bunny Hops
Hop on R/L foot 8 times
10 Kicks to the front
10 Kicks to the side
Jump on/off towel
Peanut Butter Jelly Routine:
-Pike
-Straddle
-Butterfly
-Arms
Neck
Wrists
Ankles
Tabletops
Position of tabletop
Push up & hold up 5 seconds.
Table top touch the ceiling x 5
Table top feet kicks
Table top walks
Candlesticks:
*socks between knees*
-Demonstrate a candlestick and show what it should look like.
-Sit roll back candlestick x 5
-Hold candlestick 5 sec x 3
-Stand, back candlestick x 5
-forward roll in slow motion x 3
Back Rolls:
*socks under chin*
-roll back and touch hands to ground
*socks between knees*
-roll back and touch hands to ground
-full back roll (add socks if easy)
Handstands:
-Mountain position, put one leg up and hop up and down on other foot x 5
-Put one leg up and kick other leg up to other one x 5
Conditioning:
10 Flamingos
10 Frog jumps
10 Squats
30 second plank hold up on hands
Stretch:
Straddle
Pike
Butterfly
End the class with hands in to the camera counting 1-2-3 “Twisters!”
