Results Statement: This is a 2-hour lesson plan that can be conducted as a half-day camp for preschool students.
1 p.m. Line up like a train at the gym doors.
1-1:10 p.m. Game – British bulldog: Children run to the other side of the gym floor after the “mamma bulldog” (person who is it) calls out British bulldog. If they get tagged doing so, they become a puppy and have to crawl around and try to catch the others when the mamma bulldog calls it again. The game is over when everyone gets caught and becomes a puppy. Different games are played each week.
1:10-1:15 p.m. Stretch and Jumps
- Practice balance poses (ie, stork stand, front support, back support, v-sit)
- Stretch muscles by make a pizza in a straddle sit and trying to touch our toes and count to 10 in a pike sit.
- Review all our shape jumps (ie Star Jump, Tuck Jump, Pencil Turn and Safety Landing with our stop sign hands.
1:15-1:30 p.m. Front Gym Circuit
Select a special helper to show the circuit to the other kids. While the coach assists the helper the others watch to know what to do. A different special helper is chosen each week. The circuit includes:
- Handstand against wall with hands on box
- Forward roll down the incline
- Walk up the elevated balance beam
- Chop chop timber back fall onto crash mat
- Donkey kick in yoga mat circle
- Stork stand on balance post, swing on the rope
- Balance beam walk
- Backward roll down incline
- Jumps over steps
- Hop scotch on dots
- Cartwheel over box
1:30-1:45 p.m. Demonstrate second circuit made up of:
- Tunnels
- Slides
- Bar swings and front supports on bars
- Forward and backward rolls
- Balance posts The Group is split into 2 after the helper is done showing the circuit. First group starts on the Circuit that was shown and the other group gets turns jumping across the trampoline onto a mat, after 5-6 mins we switch groups.
1:45-1:55 p.m. Free play on bouncy castles
1:55-2:00 p.m. Gym Sticker time
2:00-2:20 p.m. Handwashing and snack
2:20-2:35 p.m. Craft
2:35-2:45 p.m. Playtime and coloring
2:45-2:50 p.m. Clean up
2:50-3:00 p.m. Story time or letter of the day video. Alternate weeks letter of the day the children come up after video watched to the white board and find their name to see if the letter of the day is in their name written on the board.
3:00 p.m. Collect crafts/ lunch kits and meet parents downstairs
