Results Statement: By following a ninja warrior lesson plan, any staff member in your gym (with minimal training) can teach a class.
Warm Up: 15 minutes
- Follow the leader: When areas of the gym are available, the coach will run through a series of obstacles throughout the gym and the ninjas will follow – mimicking what the coach did. If the coach hops over a panel mat and runs/jumps onto a spring board, the ninjas will do that same. Ensure any dangerous equipment is out of the way and that all skills the ninjas are to mimic are safe for all skill levels.
- Dynamic stretching: During this time, we’ll do the standard dynamic stretching warm up (Frankensteins, front “ninja” kicks, inch worms, swimming from the shark, wrists, ankles and neck.)
Stations & Obstacle Course: 25 minutes
- Stations: During this time, we’ll break apart portions of the ninja warrior obstacle course and coach athletes through how to complete them. Examples of 5 stations include: Wall runs, hurdles, climbing the rope, slackline, and the warped wall.
- Obstacle course races/timed course: We will have the whiteboard set up with the ninjas previous times listed. We will run them through the obstacle course attempting to beat their previous time.
Cool Down: 5 minutes
- Cool Down: During this time, we’ll do a final static stretch (straddle, pike, butterfly). We’ll also talk about a character skill for the week and give the ninjas a challenge.
- Weekly Challenge: This needs to be something that will aid in the overall character development (ie: Clean your room every day this week without being asked; Go the extra mile by helping someone with something; Find someone playing alone on the playground and ask if you can play with them.
Stamps: 1 minute
- Celebration of a Great Class: At the end of class, dismiss students to the front desk. The front desk associate will ask how their class was and provide a stamp or sticker on each hand.
