Results Statement: By using this system, you will have a process in place in the event that an athlete or staff member tests positive for COVID-19.

System:

  1. Tell the family not to panic. Thank them and ease their minds. Explain the 14-day quarantine rule from the gym. They can still do virtual classes (if offered and approved by a doctor). Assure the family the athlete will not suffer any ramifications for their absence. Notify the family of the following steps to prevent HIPPA violations.
  2. Notify the staff and determine if any were in physical contact with the athlete. Have potential cases get tested. This is mandatory prior to working the next shift. Employees who did not come in contact with the athlete, but who may have come in contact with other teammates are strongly encouraged to get tested.
  3. Send an email (see below) out to the program with specific days and times the person was in the gym.
  4. Perform a deep cleaning of the gym and pay special attention to any area of the gym the athlete may have spent time or performed activity.
  5. Seven days after notification, reach back out to the family to see how the athlete is doing.
  6. Two days prior to the return date, call the family. Check on symptoms, ask about the rest of the family. Let them know if there is any exclusion or bullying from other athletes, to immediately notify a staff member of the gym.
  7. If three people contract COVID-19 within the gym within a one-week time span, the gym will voluntarily close.

Hello Gym Family!

This email is to inform you that an athlete in our program has tested positive for COVID-19. We have no reason to believe that he/she contracted the virus at the gym, but it is important to notify you of when he/she was in the gym in the last 2 weeks. Here are the days and times where you athlete may have experienced potential exposure:

LIST DATES AND TIMES

That being said, due to the fact that we have been social distancing at practices, disinfecting all surfaces, drinking from personal water bottles and taking other necessary precautions, there is a good chance that there has been no spread to other gym members. Any staff that has had physical contact with the athlete is being tested and will not be permitted back to work until the results come back. We also are following all state guidelines for cleaning after a positive test result. If you are concerned about possible infection, please feel free to get your child tested. If you feel it is necessary to stay out of the gym pending those results, we respect and support that decision.

The athlete that tested positive will remain out of the gym for 14 days. When she returns, she will not be contagious. We encourage you to speak with your child about how to interact with her in alignment with our core values.

Please know that we will keep you informed of any and all updates in regard to COVID and that we are doing absolutely everything we can to keep your children safe, while still enjoying the sport they love.

Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
