Position Roles and Responsibilities

Title: Floating Instructor

Reporting Relationship: Melanie Wilmoth, Gym Manager; Patrick Davison, Tumbling Director

Role: This position’s role as the floating instructor is to identify deficiencies among the classes at any given moment and offer assistance as needed to all instructors, parents and students. As the floating instructor, you will ensure all classes run smoothly and the transitions are seamless at all times. The organization and structure of the class program, when run effectively, will convert trials in to members and build the over longevity of the client relationship.

Responsibilities: Working hand in hand with the tumbling director and the gym manager, the floater will fill in on classes to ensure all students have adequate training and instructors may spend ample time performing one-on-one training. The floater may, at any given time, assist the coaching staff with attendance, warm ups, instruction, parent communication, etc.

The following are key responsibilities as the role of the Floating Instructor.

  1. Attendance Tracking of all students within classes and teams
  2. Assistance with class warm ups, instruction, station set-up and student assistance as requested by management or other instructors
  3. Communication with parents regarding athlete status, make up classes, additional classes an athlete would benefit, Saturday skills clinics, progression sheets, skills evaluation clinics and homework/drills that may be conducted at home
  4. Communication with the front desk staff when a student is not accurately showing on a roster
  5. Front desk assistance when identifying which students should be marketed for Saturday skills clinics, summer camps, etc.
  6. Assist the front desk with any injuries, ice packs, band-aids, etc.
  7. Conduct one-on-one assessments for potential trial members
  8. Fill in when a coach needs to use the restroom, is sick or has an emergency
  9. Assist with conducting Skills Evaluation Clinics, new skill celebrations and explaining and correcting skills and drills in classes
  10. Assist in special projects as requested by the gym manager
  11. Identify potential athletes for Athlete of the Month program and/or National Acrobat Compulsory tumbling team

Targets:

It is the responsibility of the floating instructor to assist in meeting the following targets.

  1. 92% conversion rate on all trial members
  2. 95% conversion rate from tours to trial members
  3. 95% advancement rate from all participants in the Skills Evaluation Clinics

Expectations:

  1. Attend monthly staff meeting and participate in staff training during meeting and when otherwise directed
  1. Complete end of night survey with information and feedback that would vastly improve the experience of the students, families and staff at Twister Sports

Terms of Employment:

A signed Non-Complete Contract is not required for this position. This contract is an addendum and additional duty of the recreational coaching position agreement. Acceptance of that agreement opts-in all employees to the floater position as it is determined as a nightly duty.
