Dear
Thank you for choosing Twister Sports! Here at Twisters, we’re focused on more than just teaching physical skills. In addition to learning fun physical skills, we’re also focused on teaching character skills that will help your child set goals and learn to achieve those goals. We believe in constant growth and improvement in our gym, our athletes, staff and facility. We take tremendous pride in our programs, and value each family who entrusts us with their child.
Because it’s important to us to teach your child skills that go beyond their chosen sport, we’ll ask you to fill out a “Get to Know You” form on your first day. We’d love you and your child to take a second to complete this together so our coaches can get to know their athletes. It’s helpful for us to know the things that excite and motivate your child so we can ensure they’re getting the best possible experience and building a positive relationship with their coach and their peers. Our coaches have a variety of backgrounds, but each of them has a unique passion for teaching children – and they will be glad to have the opportunity to learn more about your child.
Throughout your trial month, we welcome all ideas, comments, and suggestions regarding classes, staff or facility. It’s because of the generous feedback of our gym families and the support of the local community that we have built our programs so successfully. We look forward to getting to know you and your family over the next month!
Thank you,
Melanie Wilmoth Twister Sports, Manager

Skills Evaluation System:
Assessments are completed online by a lead coach on a regular basis. For tumbling classes, assessments are done once per month. For gymnastics, ninja, hip hop and cheerleading, assessments are done four times per year, the first week of the following months: February, May, August and November. During assessments, the lead coach will ask the child to demonstrate the skills he or she has been working on. The coach will notate the date each skill was performed. If an athlete is struggling to progress in a skill, the coach will make notes on the athlete’s profile and the athlete will be offered a “homework” card or drills to work on. This homework consists of a few minutes each day of drills, flexibility training or exercises. Athletes who attend only one class per week are strongly recommended to participate in homework exercises to see consistent progression. Once the athlete has completed all required skills for the class, the coach will recommend the child for advancement. You will be notified in person by the coach or through an e-mail at the end of the assessment. You can also track the progression on the athlete’s profile through the parent portal. Go to www.twisterparents.com to access your personal parent portal!
Once you are notified that your child has completed the skills necessary to advance, please contact our front desk to sign up for a Skills Evaluation Clinic. These clinics are hosted once per month and will cost $5 to register. During this 30-minute clinic, the child will have to demonstrate each skill in their current skill level for a lead coach (usually different than your child’s class coach). Once they demonstrate all required skills, they will receive a certificate of achievement and $5 in Twisters cash that may go toward a congratulations gift in our pro shop! Our front desk will also be available at that time to help you select a class for your child at that time. Most of our classes are offered several days of the week at various times to allow proper class placement within your schedule.
Make up Classes:
If a child needs to miss a class for any reason such as vacation, school program, illness, etc., we are happy to provide make-up classes. We recommend that a child make up the class as
soon as possible to ensure continued progression, but we understand that illnesses and busy schedules often dictate your make up opportunities. Athletes are given a period of 90 days in which to make up any missed classes. Please note, if your child is in a class that is only offered once per week, our front desk has a list of recommended classes that would be appropriate for your child to make-up in. Students must be actively enrolled in classes to participate in make-up classes. While it’s helpful for us to know your child will miss in advance, last-minute notifications will not prevent you from make-up eligibility. We understand…people get busy, and we’re here to help make Twisters as convenient for you as possible!
Annual Closure Dates:
The gym is closed the following days to allow our athletes and staff time with their families. If your regularly scheduled class is missed due to a gym closure, you are eligible for a make-up class. Please contact our front desk who is happy to help set this up.
