This is the script used at Twister Sports

Results Statement: A tour will be provided to families so they can familiarize themselves with the facility and available programs. This helps them feel “at home” from the first day.

Tour Basics:

  • A tour should only take 5 minutes unless the customer is wanting to talk or ask more questions.
  • Walk through the facility with the customer pointing out the highlighted areas.
  • Ensure they know “what is back there” if you don’t specifically go to the dance room or batting cages.
  • Be sure the bathroom is one of the highlighted items.
  • Choose highlights that correspond with the family’s selected programs.
  • If the family has siblings or if dad is there for the tour, ask if they do baseball (sometimes the siblings and dad will want to book cages during the athlete’s classes)
  • Mention that we do birthday parties on your tour.
  • End the tour where the athlete’s class will begin. This is where you’ll introduce the athlete to the coach at the beginning of class.
  • Be aware of the time so the athlete isn’t late to class. If the family arrives too late for a tour, it should be conducted after the class.

Tour Script for First-Time Guests:

Hi there, how are you today?

Have you ever been to Twister Sports before for a birthday party or Family Fun Night?

Fantastic! Well, if you have a second, I’d love to give you a tour of the gym and introduce you to some of our amazing coaches. They will be spending a lot of time with your kiddos, so we think it’s pretty important that you get the chance to meet them first.

Tour Highlights (3-4 of these should be highlighted at minimum):

Ninja Zone: The ninjas will do a combination of obstacle course training, agility and strength training and foundational tumbling skills. They will focus on speed as they make their way through the course and up the wall just like in the show American Ninja Warrior. You can see their varying lace colors, which designate their skill level.

Gymnastics Equipment: Our uneven bars are Olympic regulation. We offer recreational and competitive gymnastics for all levels here. Even if your child doesn’t do gymnastics, there’s a chance you’ll find her doing pull ups here as part of her strength training program. We use balance beams for all gymnastics classes, but sometimes you’ll see our tumblers on them as well. We teach basic balance skills as a foundation of all tumbling. Balance is really important regardless of what sport you play and good balance can prevent injuries, so that’s one fundamental skill they will learn in tumbling that will help them the rest of their lives. Our gymnasts use the regulation vault as a part of their routines. It requires a ton of upper body strength, but we also use it for our conditioning classes to build core strength!

Lobby: Our parent lobby offers booths with outlets at each booth and free WiFi, so if you’re needing to work on homework with your other children, check email or finish up some work during your child’s classes, you can do it right here. We also offer two tvs so if dads want to keep tabs on the Royals or Chiefs games, they can! Just let our front desk know if there is a game on you’d like to watch, and we’re happy to turn it on. Our snack bar is always stocked with healthy – and some not so healthy – snacks and treats for you and your child.

Spring Floors: We have three spring floors, two of which are full cheer floors and one full gymnastics floor. These offer a safe tumbling surface for the kids to learn their skills. Once they start learning more advanced skills, it can be important to have a soft, springy surface to learn their skills. We typically migrate from drills, to the air track or tumble track, then the rod floor, spring floor and finally, the dead floor.

Preschool Area: The preschool room is where we teach our preschool classes as well as our Wiggle Worms and Twister Babies classes. There are tons of colorful mats and tumbling aids as well as a preschool obstacle course. This helps our preschool-aged children stay focused in a smaller room without all the distractions. It also allows you watch and listen via the two tv’s that cover the entirety of the room.

Dance Room: This room is used for dance. During tap, ballet, and hip hop students use all the mirrors in the room to learn their skills. It offers a private area for them to listen to the music and really focus. The parents are able to sit over here and watch on the TV. It also has sound!

Batting Cages: Our batting cages offer two machines, both are Iron Mike MP-4 machines – the same ones used by the Yankees. We also have two tees. Once you complete an orientation, you’re welcome to reserve your spot or try to do a walk-in, though we recommend reserving a spot. Included in your cage rental is also one of our two hitting tees.

Kids Camp: This area is where we host our before and after school program as well as our full-day summer camp. We are a fully licensed childcare program that focuses on education and fitness. Our kids get outdoor time as long as weather allows and weekly time in the ninja area and on the main floor for open gym.

At the end of the tour or during dead space while walking, use the following questions to prompt conversation:

  • Do you have any questions about anything?
  • Are you excited for your first class? What part are you most excited about?
  • Have you seen anyone you know from school here?
  • What grade/class/school are you in? Who is your teacher?
  • Do you have any siblings?
